KOF 98 UM on Type X

The KOF 98 UM arcade release will use the Type X hardware. This has been a point of speculation.

And official website is up:

Personally, I'd prefer 97 UM, but beggars and choosers and all that.

No problem. It may not be as exciting as Neo Geo news was back in the day, but I'll take King of Fighters any way I can.

Also, the official site was updated with profiles of the Heroes Team and Fatal Fury Team.

I hate to link to other posts, but in this case I'll make an exception.

Those scans are great. I'm glad the game is coming along so quickly. Here's hoping that at the AOU should in Feb, SNK Playmore Jp will be willing to put down some "set" release dates on the game for arcades and the PS2...

The themes been "updated" a bit. They've made it poppier it seems... Or at least more upbeat.

Heh, you're right. I thought it was the compression on the stream (along with my shitty laptop speakers) that made it sound odd.

Where's "Got remixed in 2008?"

That seems about right. What's going to be interesting is whether or not its going to get a simultaneous release on the PS2 or if the PS2 version is going to be put off a little bit...

Man I can't wait to play UM 98. I just got the mvs version of kof 98, still the best kof out there in my opinion.

Yeah, it really is... I didn't think I was going to be as satisfied with another King of Fighters game until XI came out and sort of blind sided me in arcades. I truly wasn't expecting XI to be as refined as it was. I still prefer '98 overall, but its good that SNK Playmore haven't lost complete site of what made the series good.
